Sue is an accredited authority on organizational communications, with more than 35 years’ experience. Since co-founding Focus Communications in 2002, Sue has been a senior strategist, helping clients define, understand and achieve their communications objectives. She is past Director of IABC Accreditation Exams, Past Chair of the international IABC Chapter Relations Task Force and Past Chair of the IABC Global Communication Certification Council. She is currently serving on IABC’s Research Foundation Committee at the international level, and is a member of NorQuest College’s 1000 Women Movement. Sue is a member of IABC, CPRS and IAF (International Association of Facilitators).

She is the 2016 recipient of IABC’s Rae Hamlin Award and was IABC Edmonton’s Communicator of the Year in 2016. In her spare time, Sue loves fashion and even holds an Image Consulting Certificate from Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

She leans heavily on her background as a journalist and on her mediation and project management training to help ensure that projects move forward smoothly for both agency staff and clients.

Shelley has large-agency, corporate, and public sector marketing experience and has held several senior titles across the years. At Focus, she advises on digital strategy, process/efficiency, and strategic planning. Shelley is an author and poet who enjoys an active lifestyle.

When she’s not in the office, she can be found on stage! As a graduate from the Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts, Courtney likes to perform in plays around Edmonton!

Corey’s the "one half" of our creative team, but his need to create doesn’t end when his workday does. Whether he is making deep dish pizza from scratch or building electric guitars, he’s always finding a way to make something!

Jake is a BCom grad with a major in Marketing and a minor in Music. He also has experience working in private and public marketing realms.

He is creatively driven, analytically oriented, and a believer in uncommon combinations. He has a detailed eye for design with a soft spot for good copy and he is weirdly satisfied when building models in Excel.

Writing, performing, and recording music are some of his favourite things to do. He is a right-winger on the ice, setter on the court, and a guitarist in the studio and on the stage.

Laurie is a communications professional who works with government and private business owners to help grow and present their brands to best advantage.

After more than 30 years in communications, Laurie instinctively knows what truly drives conversations. She’s learned that trends may come and go but the principles of communication are constant: success is based on how well you connect with the people you’re trying to help and communicate your understanding back to them.

Laurie has refined her business writing skills through myriad speeches, articles, annual reports and advertising copy, while developing communications strategies that get to the heart of her client’s goals in a commonsense way.

Laurie’s education background is in design and production, having graduated from Grant MacEwan College with a design diploma in 1979.

Meagan is a Communications grad with a major in professional communication. She is passionate about writing, learning, and all things creative. She has experience facilitating events and public speaking is one of her favourite things to do – seriously!

Despite being in the fast-paced world of communications, Meagan is an old soul who loves to curl up with a blanket and a good book. She is a Shakespeare aficionado and if you’re not careful she will quote plays to you.

Nikka has been a graphic designer for six years with a background in advertising and marketing. She’s a cum laude graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Arts. Previously, she worked as a digital art director in an advertising agency and created works for various channels. She’s a very dedicated designer who always manages to exceed project deadlines and client expectations.

She’s also a Disney addict. Her life is pretty much like every other 90’s kid: Early morning spam and eggs, movies in VHS, afternoon video games, Pokemon battles, Windows 98 lags and late-night mixtapes.
