Philosophy
We believe in enriching
the community that surrounds us.
“Always. From day one. Even when we didn’t have two pennies to rub together. We don’t do it for recognition. We do it because we feel it’s our duty to give back.”
Focus Communications believes in enriching community by helping to build legacy projects, giving citizens a voice through public engagement, and creating marketing and PR strategies that foster local prosperity.
Focus’s give-back philosophy reflects the belief that community is integral to who we are.
While working with business and government to boost the city, Focus was a key organizer of Santa’s Parade of Lights, which delighted thousands of children, and a founding organizer of the Edmonton Airshow, a weekend of action and fun for enthusiastic aviation fans.
Focus gives back to the communications profession and works to raise the standards of the profession. Throughout her career, Sue learned from supportive mentors, and Sue’s volunteer work with the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is one way to give back to the profession and raise the level of communications in the city.
Even before the firm became profitable, Focus Communications did pro bono work for charities and small organizations.
“Giving back – in whatever ways we can – is just in our DNA,” says principal Dean Heuman. “I can’t imagine running our company without it.”
